It is true that the situation in Portugal is the same as those in Greece. Populations living in poverty, in an everyday misery in which we feel that life becomes a survival, to an extent that the bosses and banks are stealing every moment and every area that was once ours. Police, courts and prisons for those who dare to confront this poverty, and each time more, as it were for those who received no confrontation. people are prosecuted with a regularity that disgusting, beaten or killed by police shots, because we all represent a potential threat, "just because" because the state has the authority and the weapons and the fear of revolt. Prisons that meet their precise function: to eliminate the dignity, as a landfill for the undesirables to serve and execute as an example and the rebels. Execute, execute plain and simple. But in Portugal, as in Greece, as elsewhere, there are those who want to stay in the light of this exploitative system of oppression, not the destruction of everything that breathes more freely, petrified. There are those who push the despair and resignation aside and grab life with nails and teeth, and go on the offensive. Christos Stratigopolous and Alfredo Maria Bonanno are only two of these individuals, arrested in October 2009, following a bank robbery in Trikala, Greece. Regardless of the crimes of which they are accused is the crime, that have committed it, the fight for freedom. We want to brand them especially the abusive detention of Alfredo M. Bonanno. He sits in unacceptable conditions in the prison of Koridallos (Athens), additionally aggravated by the attempt of the prosecutor to charge him with another bank robbery, which took place in July 2009. Revenge of state policy, the physical and psychological destruction of this 73 year old mates / companions to the target, which is faced with serious health problems. Alfredo Bonanno is an anarchist who has been involved for decades in the movement, the active resistance against the dictatorship of the Greek Supreme (1967-1974) provided, and Author and editor of many anarchist texts. These are the real reasons for which he is being held in conditions that threaten his life.
We demand the immediate release of Alfredo Maria Bonanno.
